It is amazing what God did for us in Jesus Christ. He had Christ pay our penalty for sin through his death on the cross, then God raised him from the dead so that death would no longer have control over us who have received his grace. Through the power that did all that, God has given us ability to live new lives here on earth. All of the things that held us captive in our old lives–sin, death, anger, hatred, selfishness, etc–have been put to death. If we choose to live in new life, we have the power to do so.
