Updated Design

So, I have been playing around with some design ideas for this site. I decided to keep it really, really simple and just have it be basically text-only. My reasoning is just that this site is about content more than anything else. Keeping it simple like this, lets the content speak for itself.

I know it might be a little ugly to some people, but it’s cool. I can handle it.

A few simple things about the design, just so you can appreciate it, are as follows:

  • It uses a monospace font. This means that all the letters have an equal width and are spaced equally. Most fonts are variable-width. Mono-spaced fonts are used mostly for mechanical reasons: typewriters used them and when people write code, they used them too. My reasoning for using them is there is an inherent grid in them because they have a uniform width. It’s experimental and I don’t know how long it will last, but I’m just trying it.
  • Because the font is mono-spaced, I decided to make it mono-sized too. That means all of the fonts are the same size. If you’re into typography, you’ll recognize that this means that hierarchies, therefore, have to be created using other means. I’ve tried a few alternative methods here. We’ll see how it goes.

That’s all I will say for now. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll be writing more soon.
